Celebrating 100 years: lunch party in Seoul

RAD Members in Seoul, South Korea will mark the start of the Centenary year at a lunch event with special guests, including Mr. Jaehong Park, president of Korea Ballet Association and Donggon Kim, Vice-President and Dance Department professor of Hanyang, Jungang and Chungnam universities.

Centenary Summer School

This is a four yearly event which coincides with the centenary. It includes three courses: two 1-week Summer Schools (for 8-11 year olds) a 2-week Performance course (12+) and a teachers’ course. Highlights will include: the Artistic Director tutoring on both the Performance Course and the teachers’ course; Lisa-Maree Cullum tutoring on the Performance course; Hilary Kaplan, Paula Hunt and Patricia Barker, Artistic Director of the RNZB, tutoring on the teachers’ course; Abigail Boyle (ex RNZB) and Mitchell Rayner (ex Australian Ballet) both recent graduates of the RAD’s PDPTC, teaching on all students’ courses.

17 – 19 January

Shaping Bodies, Shaping Minds
Melbourne, Australia
Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School

Performers, teachers, practitioners and scholars from dance, education, history, science and cultural engagement sectors join for a thought-provoking programme.

The programme features international perspectives on dance pedagogy, the role of dance in the lives of the individual and communities, and dance across ages and abilities, plus insights into health, wellbeing and empowering dancers. It incorporates presentations, practical demonstrations and workshops across a wide range of related subjects.

David McAllister AM, Artistic Director of the Australian Ballet and Vice President of the RAD, will deliver the opening keynote address with Dr Michelle Groves, RAD Director of Education, with Groves following up with the closing keynote address. RAD Artistic Director Gerard Charles will also lead a demonstration class during the conference.

Book today and tailor your conference experience to your interests and curiosities. RAD Registered Teachers attending both days can also accrue 20 hours CPD, or one day accrue 10 hours CPD.

Centenary Masterclasses – UK, Birmingham

This programme for young dancers of Grade 2 and above provides expert dance coaching through a series of five masterclasses to improve and enhance technique and performance.

Held at Elmhurst Ballet School on 19 January, 9 & 16 February, and 1 & 15 March, early booking is recommended.
