Step Into Dance Companies Performance – CANCELLED
London, England
V&A Museum, South Kensington

A partnership between the RAD and the Jack Petchey Foundation, Step into Dance supports young dancers to progress, excel, and to realise their creative potential. Each year all five Step Companies work together to create an original new work which is performed in a high profile venue. This newly commissioned work is directed by an annual resident choreographer, alongside a team of professional dancers and choreographers that lead each of the Step companies.

The resident choreographer in 2020 is Julia Cheng, a prolific creative director of company House of Absolute, choreographer, performer and teacher. Julia Cheng has extensive expertise in multidisciplinary dance and self-produced work and has considerable stage and theatre commissions, with influences that have led to cross-collaborative works with artists in contemporary dance, music, visual art and poetry. Her technique continues to evolve as she seeks to break boundaries in any given style and creates new work across UK, Europe, Africa and Asia.

The Step Companies new work Echoes will be performed at the Victoria and Albert Museum along with site-specific preludes taking place across the museum as part of the RAD 100 – celebrating the Royal Academy of Dance at 100 and connecting to the display at the museum that will run until February 2021.
