Artwork and artefacts

The RAD has a large number of pictures and objets d’art relating to RAD or British ballet.

Lithographs, drawings and prints include images of Romantic ballerinas such as Marie Taglioni, Francesca Auriol and Adeline Plunkett. The celebrated Pas de Quatre (1845) is represented as well as drawings of Ivor Guest and Svetlana Beriosova by Juliet Pannett.

The ‘All Stars Portfolio’ contains a number of autographed drawings and sketches of 1920s performance artists by Howard van Dusen, Charles Buchel and John Hassall. Twelve Portraits by William Nicholson (second series, 1902) include portraits of Sada Yacco and Eleonora Duse.

A beautiful stained glass window depicting the romantic ballerina Marie Taglioni is displayed in the RAD’s main reception area, and sculptures and busts of Dai Ailian, Antoinette Sibley, Adeline Genée, John Field and Edouard Espinosa, and Anna Pavlova will also be displayed in public areas at headquarters.
