Dance School Mini Summer Series 2023

Keep moving this summer in our Mini Summer Series!

We have classes in a range of styles for both children and adults.

Stay fitness-focused and mindful in our Yoga and Pilates classes, or keep your little one active and creative in Musical Theatre and Hip-hop! Check out the timetable below to see a full list of classes available, and when they will be running.

Booking process

  • You can book classes for each week, which covers 5 consecutive days of the class(es) of your choice. Classes booked take place at the same time each day throughout the week.
  • If you are interested in attending classes in more than one week of the Mini Summer Series, you will need to book into the full week(s) for the class of interest.
  • We are not able to book participants for selected days in any week, as bookings can only be done as a block for the whole week.
  • To select the week you would like to book, use the drop-down menu in the corner of the booking page. Then select the class(es) you would like to join.

Breeze Cockburn | Hip-hop

Breeze trained in London with companies such as ZooNation Dance Academy and Balletboyz whilst studying at Kingston University where she graduated with a BA (Hons) in dance. Since graduating she has enjoyed performing for various companies nationally and internationally, most recently for the Official Platinum Jubilee Pageant in 2022. Breeze currently teaches hip hop, jazz and contemporary to all ages and abilities at various schools across London and the South East. She has been working at the RAD for many years and currently loves teaching the commercial jazz classes at the RAD headquarters.

Alice Fletcher | Musical Theatre

Alice began dancing at the age of two and continued her training when she moved to Hong Kong two years later. She has trained extensively in Ballet, Tap, and Jazz while completing her RAD Ballet exams and ISTD Tap and Modern exams, gaining Distinctions throughout. At 16 she was accepted to the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts as a Vocational Ballet student where she gained a Diploma in Dance, before returning to the UK to attend the Guildford School of Acting where she graduated with a BA(Hons) in Musical Theatre.

Since graduating Alice has appeared in various stage productions across the UK, as well as appearing in TV and Film.

Alice has taught Musical Theatre for the past 9 years, and in her time teaching has choreographed and directed multiple productions. In 2016, a production of  ‘Annie Get Your Gun’ which Alice choreographed won the Swan Award Arts Richmond for Best Youth Production. Alice has also entered students for their LAMDA exams with great success and has run Musical Theatre workshops in primary and secondary schools around the country.

Laura Denham-Jones | Pilates

Laura Denham-Jones has a BA (Hons) degree in Performing Arts from Middlesex University and completed her Pilates mat teacher training with BASI Pilates (Body Arts and Science International) at Pilates Performance Studios, formerly located at the Royal Academy of Dance HQ in Battersea Square. She has also completed additional training in biomechanics with BASI Pilates, and Pilates for Dancers with APPI (The Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute). Laura has 16 years’ experience teaching in a variety of settings including yoga and dance studios, health clubs, and working with private clients.  Laura’s classes blend traditional Pilates principles and repertoire with mindful mat-based mobility work, influenced by her background in dance and yoga, making use of small props and tailoring exercises for a range of abilities and needs.

Karen Cadogan | Ballet and Silver Swans

Following her graduation from the London College of Dance, Karen performed in London theatres and on TV. She toured the UK and internationally with The Jiving Lindy Hoppers, West End credits include King & I, London Palladium & Assistant Choreographer, Royal Albert Hall.

As Head of Dance at Hurst Lodge School Ascot, she directed dance productions, alongside teaching. Many former pupils successfully auditioned for vocational colleges.

Karen’s passion for movement, expression and wellness, found a natural expansion into the practice of yoga. Having experienced the sense of peace and the positive effects that yoga has on the mind, body & spirit, she completed a 200hr yoga teacher training in Vinyasa Flow, Ashiyana, Goa.

Karen has led Jazz, Ballet & Yoga workshops in the UK and abroad.

Sarah Platt | Ballet and Silver Swans

PGDT (Dance), BPhil (Hons), RAD RTS, FIDTA, RAD Dip; Dance Ex Dip; Anat Dip.

Sarah has trained with the Royal Academy of Dance from the days of the ‘Teacher Training College’, through its degrees and into post-graduate training, and loves sharing her passion for all forms of ballet and dance. She established her dance school 30 years ago and enjoys a varied teaching spectrum including in the private sector, in educational schools and with older learners.

She delivers classes at RAD HQ for the Dance School, Student Activities, Faculty of Education and for CDP, both onsite and with the distance learning programmes.  Sarah recorded some online classes for RAD Silver Swans at the start of the recent pandemic and has found her ‘five minutes of fame’ through Youtube tutorials which have been appreciated by a wide range of ages.

The exploration of ballet as a wellbeing aid for physical and mental health has been a huge passion, resulting in contributions to several conferences, reports and articles. Spreading the joy of dance through mentoring, teaching and generally enthusing to anybody who will listen, was recognised in 2020 when she was honoured with the RAD Advocacy Dance Teacher Award.
