Faculty of Education Guest Lecture Series: In Conversation with Professor Jo Butterworth

Our second event in our online Guest Lecture Series 20-21 focuses on invited speaker Professor Jo Butterworth (University of Malta – retired).

Jo Butterworth was head of dance at Bretton Hall (University of Leeds) from 1986 to 2005. She established the Dance Studies Department at the University of Malta in 2010 and became the first director of the School of Performing Arts in 2012. Her publications include Fifty Contemporary Choreographers (2020) with Lorna Sanders, Contemporary Choreography: A Critical Reader (2009, 2018), coedited with Liesbeth Wildschut, and Dance Studies the Basics (2012). Jo chaired Wayne MacGregor|Random Dance for twelve years. She received the Dance Studies Association’s Distinction in Dance Award in 2018.
