London Summer School 2019
Our Summer Schools let you develop your skills while trying out new styles of dance. Each week closes with an open day to celebrate your achievements.
- Week 1: Monday 15 – Saturday 20 July
- Week 2: Monday 22 – Saturday 27 July
- Week 3: Monday 29 July – Saturday 3 August
- Week 4: Monday 5 – Saturday 10 August
Students are permitted to attend either one or two weeks (consecutive or non-consecutive).

- Group dance/Repertoire
- Creative dance
- Hip-Hop, Musical Theatre, Street Jazz or West End Jazz (one non-ballet style of dance, depending on the week)
- Yoga or Singing (one non-dance class, depending on the week)
All ballet and Group dance/Repertoire classes have pianist accompaniment.
The programme differs each week; with new tutors, repertoire focus, an alternative non-ballet style of dance and non-dance class.
There are a maximum of 25 students in each class, supported by a Houseparent, 13 chaperones and the administrative office team.
There is a welcome meeting at 9.30am for all students on Monday.
Monday-Friday classes run from 10.00am-4.30pm. Each class is 1 hour duration, with a short morning and afternoon break and lunch break.
On Saturday tuition hours vary for the parent open day, the finish time for all students is no later than 1.15pm.
A light buffet lunch is provided Monday-Friday, snacks and drinks are provided in the breaks.

A disco and games night is held each week
A residential accommodation option at Roehampton University is available for students aged 9 and above for an additional fee. Please ensure you select the correct Tuition & Accomodation ticket for the week(s) you wish to attend when booking.
Accommodation fee includes:
- ensuite single rooms
- internet access
- breakfast and evening meals each day
- coach transfers to and from RAD headquarters. A private coach will transport residential students to and from the RAD each day, with chaperones and a housemother in attendance during the their stay
Accommodation fee for two consecutive weeks also includes room, transport and meals for the middle weekend.
One tuition award will be presented to a student (at any level) who has shown significant improvement at each RAD Summer School in the UK. The award is one week’s tuition at an RAD Summer School in 2019 or 2020.

Who can attend?
Students must be between the age of 8-18 years when they commence the course.
Students must have reached the minimum entry requirement of RAD Grade 2, or the equivalent and therefore be be familiar with the ballet terminology and phrases at this level. There is no upper Grade limit.
Students will be grouped (there are 5 groups each week) by the Artistic Advisor according to their age and the information provided on their application relating to their Grade in ballet and other dance experience.
Students are not required to be studying the RAD syllabus or have RAD membership.
Places are awarded on a first come, first served basis. There is no audition, selection or elimination process.

Please ensure you check the ticket details carefully. If the ticket you wish to book appears sold out, please apply online for the Waiting List Ticket, specifying which ticket type you wish to purchase. The Student Activities Team will contact you should a suitable place become available.

Please note, in the event of injury or medical emergency during the activity a qualified First Aider from Royal Academy of Dance will provide necessary treatment and assistance to the participant. Please see our Terms & Conditions for further information on this.
Sibling discounts: Two sibling students: 10% off total cost of tuition fee, and three or more sibling students: 20% off total cost of tuition fees.
Group discounts: A 10% discount will be applied to the total cost of tuition fees for groups of 10 or more students within the same price band. For groups of 10 or more students please contact the student Activities Team to secure you places by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note, group bookings are limited to 15 students per group per week.
Multiple booking discount: A 10% discount will be applied to the total cost of tuition fees for any single participant booking two or more summer events at the same time.
Discounts will be checked, calculated and verified following your booking submission and the amount refunded directly.
