Reachout is a new project celebrating 100 years of the Royal Academy of Dance, aiming to connect young people through dance, and takes place in Lisbon, Portugal this spring. Students aged 12–18 will have the opportunity to work with a dance professional from Step into Dance and learn the fundamentals of street dance.
Where: Liceu Dona Filipa de Lencastre, Lisbon, Portugal
When: 30 March – 3 April 2020, 10.30am – 4.30pm daily
There will be a sharing of work on 3 April at 5pm for an invited audience of friends and family.
What should I expect:
You will take part in two dance classes each day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, learning the basic moves of hip hop and dancing to music from across the last 100 years. Explore and be inspired by the Royal Academy of Dance archives while you work together as a group to create a piece of choreography to be performed in front of an audience of family and friends at the end of the week.
No dance experience is necessary – both beginners and more advanced dancers are welcome.
The project is funded by the RAD and is free to take part. A €5 deposit is required and will be refunded after the project.
A partnership between the Royal Academy of Dance and the Jack Petchey Foundation, Step into Dance supports young dancers to progress, excel, and to realise their creative potential.Register Your Place
