Silver Swans Summer School 2023

The Silver Swans Summer School offers you the chance to immersive yourself in a week filled with dance.

You will experience Ballet technique, Repertoire, Pilates and Move to the Musicals classes throughout the course which will focus on enhancing your dance technique and artistry. The week will culminate in a sharing of work in the Aud Jebsen Studio theatre for friends and family to come along to.

Highlights of the programme include:

  • A trip to see a west end performance on the Saturday afternoon
  • Experience a variety of styles, with a strong focus on ballet technique, building into classical repertoire
  • The chance to be taught by professional teachers with years of experience within the industry
  • The opportunity to perform to friends and family in the Aud Jebsen Studio Theatre at our purpose-built headquarters

Who can attend?

Recommended for those aged 55+. There are two different levels to choose from:

Level 1: Suitable for those who have just started their Silver Swans journey and would like to improve their skills, with up to 2 years experience. (SPACES AVAILABLE)
Level 2: Suitable for those who have been attending regular Silver Swans ballet and movement classes for at least 2 years or more. (SOLD OUT)

Classes

Monday – Friday
All dancers will receive classes throughout the week in ballet technique, repertoire, Pilates and Move to the Musicals. Each day dancers will participate in a 45 minute ballet technique class and a 1 hour repertoire class. Pilates classes will take place on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and are one hour in duration. Move to the Musicals workshops will take place on Tuesday and Thursday and are two hours in duration.

Saturday
On Saturday, dancers will receive a 45 minute ballet technique class before rehearsing their performance pieces from their repertoire and Move to the Musicals classes in the Aud Jebsen Studio Theatre. Following this, the sharing of work will take place which we encourage dancer’s to invite their friends and family along to.

Level 1
Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 12.00pm – 4.00pm
Tuesday and Thursday: 11.00am – 4.00pm
Saturday: 10.00am – 12.30pm

Level 2
Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 11.00pm – 3.00pm
Tuesday and Thursday: 11.00am – 4.00pm
Saturday: 10.00am – 12.30pm

  • There will be a one hour lunch break scheduled each day
  • The full timetable will be shared following the closing date
  • The above times do not take into account the theatre trip organised for the Saturday afternoon

Theatre trip

As part of the Silver Swans Summer School you will attend a matinee performance at a West End Theatre on Saturday 22 July. Dancer’s will be required to make their own way from RAD to the theatre in order to attend the performance.

Booking process

  • Places are limited in each class and secured on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Payment is required at the time of booking.
  • An automatic email will be sent via the booking platform Cvent to confirm your registration and payment were successful. Please note, the timings and dates displayed on this page supersedes the information provided on Cvent.
  • Please quote the Cvent order no/ticket reference when contacting the RAD with any queries related to your booking.
  • Please ensure you have read the Terms and Conditions, which includes the RAD’s cancellation policy.
  • When a class is fully-booked, a waiting list will be activated. The Learning and Participation Team will contact you via email should a suitable place become available.
  • After the closing date, you will receive an additional confirmation by email, detailing registration times, suggested dress, and all other relevant information for the course and venue.
