18 December 2021 - 19 December 2021

The Nutcracker Children’s Repertoire Workshop (London)

This Christmas delve into the magic of The Nutcracker and discover the world of classical ballet through dance, music and storytelling.

Each session will focus on a scene or character from the ballet, with choreography appropriate to the children’s age and level of dance experience.

These workshops are taught by professional artists with live piano accompaniment.

Throughout the weekend we also welcome families attending a dance session to drop-in and enjoy our Nutcracker themed arts and crafts, and create a decoration to take home.

Teachers

Rebecca Peters began dancing at the early age of three following the RAD ballet syllabus and the ISTD tap and modern syllabus. Rebecca gained distinction at all levels of RAD and achieved the ARAD (Associate of the Royal Academy of Dance) in 2006.

Rebecca danced as an associate of the Royal Ballet School, and went on to gain a place at White Lodge, Royal Ballet Lower School. Whilst at the Royal Ballet School, Rebecca danced with the Royal Ballet company in The Nutcracker for three seasons.  Rebecca continued her training at Elmhurst School in association with Birmingham Royal Ballet and here she gained her Trinity Diploma in professional dance and went on tour with the Birmingham Royal Ballet. Rebecca has also toured with The Estonian Vanemuine Ballet Company, Cork City Ballet and London Ballet Ensemble, going on to complete the RAD’s Professional Dancers Teaching Diploma with Distinction.

Reena Bhattacharjee trained at the Royal Academy of Dance, graduating with a BA (Hons) in Ballet Education, as well as achieving further qualifications with the Imperial Society for Teachers of Dancing. After qualifying, Reena began working as a freelance performer – including dancing in the London 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony. Reena currently teaches for the Junior School of Ballet Black, her own dance school. She also tutors on the RAD’s Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies programme for trainee ballet teachers, and is a Practical Teaching Supervisor on the BA Dance Education programme. Reena was also the Chairperson of the RAD’s London & Middlesex Regional Advisory Committee for 5 years, and is currently working towards an MFA in Dance Science at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire in Greenwich, undertaking a year-long research project looking at the sleep of professional ballet dancers.
