This one day workshop will address safe and effective stretching / flexibility training for dancers of varying ages and abilities.

about the tutor

Katy is a Lecturer in Dance Science and Programme Manager (MA in Education - Dance Teaching) in the Faculty of Education at the Royal Academy of Dance. She also has extensive experience teaching in vocational and Higher Education institutions including The Urdang Academy, Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance, London Metropolitan University, the University of Bedfordshire and Kingston University, delivering sessions on biomechanics, hypermobility, injury prevention and approaches to injury management and rehabilitation for dance and sport. As well as teaching, Katy supervises undergraduate and postgraduate research and has presented her own work at many national and international conferences. She is an active member of the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science (IADMS) and One Dance UK.

At Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, Katy works as the Senior Dance Specialist Physiotherapist, providing treatment, rehabilitation programmes, education sessions and dance injury screening in conjunction with the National Institute of Dance Medicine and Science (NIDMS). Katy is also a fully trained equipment and advanced matwork Pilates instructor with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute.

The range of experience Katy has, including having trained as a dance teacher with the RAD herself, all contributes to her design and delivery of CPD materials which are evidence based, practice informed and directly applicable to teachers' work in studios around the world.
