How Dance can Help You to Think Positively

When you harness the power of positivity, it's amazing the impact it has on your life. This #PositiveThinkingDay, we have gathered some of our favourite thoughts from Silver Swans and adult dancers around the world.

‘I love the music and always feel that I will push myself more when there is music. The chance to express ourselves freely to the music is freeing and exhilarating while the chat over coffee afterwards with like-minded dancers is a very enjoyable part of my week.’ – Carole

‘There is still a beauty of feeling and movement in people even when they are older; this is seldom recognised. The feeling of the movements with the particular pieces of music can really take you to another world; you can feel elegant and spiritual again.’ – Jenny

‘Silver Swans is great fun and I’m enjoying the challenge.’ - Ian

‘It’s helped my balance, my flexibility and stamina, but more importantly, it’s enabled me to meet some lovely people and feel joy again, through music and dance.’ – Sue

'Adult ballet classes are so much fun- would recommend them to anyone. Best thing for keeping you fit and healthy. RAD has changed considerably since my young days-the music is wonderful and the barre and centre work are so much more interesting.' Lorraine

'I’m 62 and returned to ballet 18 months ago and now take 3 classes a week plus tap dancing. It's the best thing I ever did! My health, posture balance and overall mental health has improved. Like it says it is for anyone. Do it!' Kay

'I'm 63 - I've been taking ballet classes since age 15. I still take classes every week. It truly is an art form - anyone can start any age.' Margaret

Research often puts dance ahead of other physical activities in the variety of health benefits that it brings. Ballet and dance are also very social activities and Silver Swans classes can be great places to meet new people with a passion and joy for life.
