Interview with the creators of BODIES: A Davy Lazare Film
RAD Artistic Director Gerard Charles has interviewed the creators of BODIES, a film by RAD alumnus and now Principal dancer with the Birmingham Royal Ballet, Brandon Lawrence, and filmmaker and spoken word poet, Davy Lazare, reflecting the nightmares of today’s world on racism and hate.
“It reassures me that there are voices in this world that can powerfully convey to us messages that we need to hear in such a creative, powerful, and eloquent way. Brandon Lawrence collaborated with Davy Lazare, on the creation of this thought-provoking film and I and the RAD feel it is important to share it more widely.”
Gerard Charles, Artistic Director
BODIES was filmed on location in Birmingham during the lockdown as a piece of art where dance and spoken word complement each other.
The film was inspired by the murder of George Floyd and the outpouring of raw emotion that followed it, but also aims to stand the test of time as a creation that continues the conversation about inclusivity versus discrimination.
