Lynn Wallis receives an OBE
RAD Artistic Director is awarded with an OBE for services to dance

Lynn Wallis, Artistic Director of the RAD, was awarded an OBE for services to dance in The Queen's honours list on 13 June 2015.

On receiving this award, Lynn said: "I am hugely humbled and extremely thrilled".

The Royal Academy of Dance has had a run of honours of late with Lynn's award following closely on from Paula Hunt, Chair of the Panel of Examiners and Head of Syllabus Development who recently received the New Zealand Order of Merit.

Together, Lynn and Paula have led the development of the new RAD's syllabi, from Pre-primary in dance to Solo Seal since 2008.

We would also like to extend our congratulations to:

  • Mark Phillip Baldwin, Artistic Director of Rambert Dance Company, for services to dance
  • Christopher Barron, Chief Executive of Birmingham Royal Ballet, for services to arts administration
  • Edward Watson, Principal Dancer at The Royal Ballet, for services to Dance.

Absolutely fantastic news; at the risk of sounding like an echo of others, it is so well deserved for the determined dedication to the cause. The RAD is a better place as a result of your glob al efforts.

Dear Miss Wallis,
It was lovely to see you recently at the Solo Seal Award of "The Royal Academy of Dance". Heartiest congratulations on receiving your well deserved OBE. What a fitting tribute and great recognition of all that you have done in contributing to this great world of dance. I have very happy memories of you teaching me at "The Royal Ballet School" and just wanted to congratulate you personally.
Best wishes,

I'm also delighted that both Lynn Wallis and Paula Hunt have received such Honours for their pioneering work, dedication, intuition, intelligence and unbelievable insight into the demands of the present-day dancer /student-dancer. But above all - for their love of children and youngsters in their development in the field of Classical Ballet in the 21st. Century. Congratulations.
Best regards
Ian Owen ARAD
