Coaching and creativity at Genée 2018

09 Aug 2018 / Tags: Hong Kong, Genée

Our new video offers a view behind the scenes with Commissioned Choreographer, Carlo AC Pacis, working with candidates on his new pieces for the Final.

Speaking in an interview in the programme for the Genée Final, Carlo outlined the importance of dancers using their experience and personality for artistic expression:

"I believe that any opportunity for an aspiring dancer to hone their craft is important. Some dancers go through competitions like the Genée and some do not. Whatever the case, it is what the dancers take from their experiences that helps shape who
they become.

A winning candidate will have a very good handle on their instrument and technique, therefore being less constrained by worry or fear, and showing all of us their personality, and their joy and freedom in their movements."
