RAD hosts special Q&A event with Misty Copeland

The RAD held an exclusive Q&A event for members with Misty Copeland, Principal dancer at American Ballet Theatre. The event was held to celebrate the release of Disney's The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, out in cinemas today. Misty plays the role of the Ballerina Princess in the film and stars alongside Mackenzie Foy, Keira Knightley and Dame Helen Mirren.

The event took place earlier today at the Soho Hotel, London. Misty Copeland was in conversation with David Jays (performing arts journalist for Sunday Times and editor of Dance Gazette) before members of the audience had the opportunity to put their questions to the star.

The audience heard about Misty’s role in the film and her career as one of the most renowned dancers in the world, as well as her advice to teachers: ‘I think it’s good to allow the dancer to feel that it’s a conversation. The more that you communicate with your students, you’ll be a better teacher, because you know what they need and you really understand where they’re coming from. It’s good to feel like you’re both putting in the work to make something amazing.’

Watch the trailer for the film.
