The Genée returns to Toronto
We are pleased to announce that RAD Canada will host the Genée International Ballet Competition in Toronto in 2019.

Toronto, the capital of the province of Ontario (and just over the border from New York), is a major Canadian city along Lake Ontario’s north-western shore. It is a dynamic metropolis with a core of soaring skyscrapers, all dwarfed by the iconic, freestanding CN Tower.

The competition was last held there to great success in 2008, and saw Aaron Smyth take the gold medal and the 'Bravo! Audience Choice Award'. Aaron went on to join American Ballet Theatre II, The Royal Ballet, and Joffrey Ballet, and is the founding director of his company Dance For Humanity. Of that same cohort of candidates, Jack Bertinshaw went on to join the National Ballet of Canada, and became a First Soloist in 2018.

Further details and application information will be available shortly on our Genée 2019 page.
