Come and dance with us!

Step into Dance is back and open for the 2020/21 school year!

We are happy to announce a program of classes available in schools. Booking is now open.

January 2021 update: Step into Dance is still open and active for all schools who wish to continue with classes during lockdown! We can offer online options (either live or pre-recorded), or face to face classes where schools are open for vulnerable and key worker students. Please get in touch if you’d like to discuss these options further.

Choose from these Packages:

Dance Journey (weekly sessions)

These weekly dance sessions will enable your students to master specific dance techniques, gain a broader knowledge of dance and build confidence in and through movement. You can select either one specific dance style or a selection of different styles for your students on a weekly basis.

NB: you can opt for this to be a drop in class, however please make us aware of this when booking the project as this will affect the practitioners planning.

The project will include:

  • Weekly dance sessions lead by an experienced dance practitioner and designed to meet the specific needs of your students
  • A free taster session if your school is new to the programme

Step INTRO Dance

This is an introductory session offered for schools that are new to the programme. The aim of this short course is to provide both teachers and students with a flavour of the programme and a broader understanding of dance. From this introduction you will be able to select which project to offer your students.

All Step into Dance programs are fully inclusive. They are open to students aged 11 -18 (25 for our SEND students) in schools across London and Essex.

Group sizes should be a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 30 depending on the size of the space.

Please let an SID team member know if you have any special needs when booking a program with us.

Covid-19 Safety

During lockdown we are opening our Step into Dance Youth Company sessions to all young people on the Step into Dance Programme. These are open to young people of all abilities and backgrounds between age 11-18 (up to 25 if the young person has any additional needs). Classes take place in Street and Contemporary each week on Sundays from 10 January. These classes will take place via Zoom therefore students will need to have access to a device to join the class. Young people can sign up to classes now using the online form.

We have signed the FirstGive Providers Charter, which outlines the precautions we will take and the procedures we will follow while travelling to and working in our partner schools to ensure that our work is carried out safely.

Our Step into Dance Covid 19 Risk Assessment is now available for further reassurance.

You can also download our Practitioners Guidelines and practitioners risk assessment checklist.
