I have been involved in dance, and more specifically in classical ballet, for as long as I can remember. I started my ballet life in a small studio in the town of Chatham Ontario learning the RAD syllabus and taking part in the exams. At the age of 12 I joined the National Ballet School of Canada, and after graduation went into the National Ballet of Canada where I eventually became a principal dancer. I also went on to be the leading dancer in the Deutsche Oper Berlin and performed around the world as a principal guest artist.
I left dancing to take on the leadership of BalletMet in Columbus Ohio and was headhunted to take over the Artistic Directorship of what was then Northern Ballet Theatre in Leeds. I have been at Northern Ballet for over 18 years, during which time the company has gone through a significant transformation. I have also been a choreographer, teacher and coach.
I have a passion in particular for nurturing young people, the teaching of ballet and the evolution of this art form. I believe that my experience and position as a leading figure in the world of dance make me a fantastic resource for the RAD, an organisation I am proud to work with.
