Maria Rowland - The Bedells Bursary Class Teacher

Maria Rowland ARAD, PDTD

Maria trained at The Royal Ballet School, both White Lodge and Upper School, before dancing professionally for over 15 years. Her professional dancing career included performing with Birmingham Royal Ballet, Principal pas de deux understudy for Glyndebourne’s production of Onegin and 9 years as both a Bluebell and Principal Pas de Deux ballet dancer at Lido de Paris.

Following her dancing success, Maria gained both her Diplome d’Etat in classical dance from Paris, France, and her Professional Dancers Teachers Diploma from the Royal Academy of Dance, and has been teaching ever since. Maria has taught at Urdang Dance Academy, London Studio Centre, D and B School of Performing Arts, The Royal Ballet Upper School and Royal Academy of Dance, where in 2011 she became the Dance School Principal. from 2015, Maria has been a Graded and Vocational Examiner for the Royal Academy of Dance.

Since 2017, Maria has taught full time students at ArtsEd, London and combines her teaching here with many summer schools and short-term courses for Royal Academy of Dance, together with her love for examining.

Maria is very excited to be teaching the onstage class for The Bedells Bursary 2023.
