Take part in our racial equity survey

As world-leading dance organisations, BBO Dance, IDTA, ISTD and RAD came together last June for the Talking Dance: Improving Race Equity symposium to discuss how to improve racial equity in dance education and training.

Following this event, attended by over 300 people, we committed to continue working together to affect change. We recognise that our organisations are not always representative of the communities in which we operate but we are committed to working collaboratively to address the issue of racial equality in our sector. The group recognised that our organisations needed more information about the current attitudes of our members towards racial equity in order to plan meaningful change.

To better understand the challenges and develop appropriate plans and tools to support our members' businesses, we would like to ask you to complete a short survey. This anonymous survey will take just five minutes to complete and can be found in the members' area.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

At the RAD, our aim is to be an organisation that supports inclusion, celebrates diversity, challenges stereotypes, and recognises and values different cultures. As such, we have a Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, chaired by the CEO, and informed by working groups covering:

  • Anti-Racism – including ethnicity issues
  • LGBTQI+ topics
  • Disabilities – all disabilities, including neuro-disability
  • Sex discrimination
  • Families and working parents
  • Practical communication

These have been created to ensure that we are having the necessary (and sometimes difficult) conversations to drive positive change where needed within our organisation and our wider community.
