Background

Having gained professional dance experience in both Australia and the United Kingdom I spent some time training as a Labanotation practitioner and teacher with Ann Hutchinson Guest. Before joining the Faculty of Education in 2000, I taught extensively as a freelance tutor covering a range of areas such as dance technique, Labanotation, movement for actors, child development and dance education workshops in compulsory and post-compulsory sectors.

As Director of Education, I provide strategic leadership for the Faculty of Education, working closely with Faculty of Education tutors, students and administrators in developing and promoting the business of the Faculty of Education.

Research interests and projects

My research interests are in teaching, learning and management in higher and professional education as well as dance teacher education across sectors. I have recently completed a Doctor of Education programme at UCL Institute of Education, London where my research focus was on the development and impact of personal and professional identities of dance teachers across genres and contexts.
