Graduate – Master of Arts in Education (Dance Teaching)

After completing a dance degree, I found going back to studying as a mature student both stimulating and rewarding. I was eager to continue studying dance, and expanding my knowledge and expertise as a dance teacher. The Masters offered a distance-learning programme which was most suitable to my dance teaching career and lifestyle, and offered modules and optional study areas relevant to my teaching context.

My biggest challenge was balancing my personal life and work commitments alongside my studies. But, with careful planning and timetabling, as well as the wonderful support from tutors, this challenge was manageable over the three years. The sense of achievement and success experienced at the end was truly overwhelming.

At present, I work in an all-girls independent school teaching dance and whilst studying on the Masters I received a promotion to become Head of Dance within my school. This qualification has clearly facilitated my current teaching career, but I also believe that having this degree will continue to enhance my future career prospects in dance teaching and dance education.
