Update on Re-opening of Dance Studios

Yesterday, 2 July the Department for Education published their guidance, which clearly stated that ballet classes could resume in July under certain conditions and reported in good faith on our website.

Please note: This information has since been updated.

On the 30 June the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government had issued guidance for re-opening multi-use community spaces stating that ‘Indoor community facilities should also not permit sports activities that would typically take place in a gym, sports venue, or a fitness or dancing studio – these venues have not yet been permitted to open.’

This is confusing and contradictory advice from two government departments.

The RAD is actively working with OneDance UK and other awarding organisations to seek clarification from government. We advise RAD Teachers to continue to plan and prepare for a COVID-19 safe return to in-person dance classes, if that is what you intend to do. Our guidance and self-assessment documents are available in the Members' Area.

We will provide an update and further clarification on timing as soon as we can.
