Grade 6 Revisions – Tualatin

A one-day practical revision course focusing on the RAD Grade 6 syllabus, with an emphasis on recapping the set exercises and dances. The course will ensure that syllabus details are being accurately understood, with brief references to the examination marking criteria and running of the examination day.

Aims

The aims of this course are:

• To revise the Grade 6 syllabus in its entirety, through explanation and physical participation
• To improve participants’ understanding of syllabus expectations and accuracy of the settings
• To clarify specific technical requirements for the Character and Free Movement work
• To be able to link the technical details covered in the syllabus to the content of the dances
• To improve understanding of the logistical running of the examination

Learning Outcomes

On completion of the course you will:

• Have an increased understanding and knowledge of the content of the Grade 6 syllabus
• Be more assured of the required technique for the set work, including Character and Free Movement
• Be able to recall settings with more accuracy
• Have gained understanding of how the required syllabus technique links with the dances, and
• Have increased understanding of the running of the examination with reference to partner work, uniform and structure

Course Tutor

Gemma Williams is an RAD Registered Teacher and serves as an RAD Examiner. She has taught ballet at professional schools such as The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and Laine Theatre Arts, Epsom UK, Boston Conservatory at Berklee (USA) and since 2016 has been the Director of Metrowest Dance Academy.

Additional Information

Participants should ideally bring a character skirt, or similar full skirt, character or
teaching shoes and a silk scarf.
