A one-day practical course in which participants will gain an understanding of how to teach the Advanced Foundation (male and female) syllabus. Learning activities will focus on the understanding of appropriate development exercises to encourage an accurate interpretation of the criteria used in the mark scheme of the examination.
Aim
The aim of this course is to:
- discuss and develop strategies and development exercises to support Advanced Foundation (Male and Female) students in their learning, understanding and embodiment of the syllabus work.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, you will:
- have a greater understanding of the technique required at this level,
- have greater knowledge of the relevance and interpretation of the assessment criteria in selected exercises and variations, and
- have a greater understanding of how best to support learners in their development of the necessary physical, musical and artistic demonstration to achieve the requirements of the assessment criteria in the examination.
Format
Livestream practical course via Zoom
Includes practical exercises, breakout rooms and opportunities to share your experiences with fellow teachers around the world.
Recommended preparation
- Knowledge of the exercises and variations of the RAD Advanced Foundation (Male and Female) syllabus.
Required resources
You will require the following resources:
- Clothing suitable for the practical elements
- Computer/laptop/tablet with internet connection, camera and microphone
- Speakers or headphones
- A safe space for the duration of the session
Tutor
Lindsay Ellman-Brown
Lindsay was born and raised in Zimbabwe and then moved to London in 1985 and trained at the College of the Royal Academy of Dance in London. Returning home to dance with the National Ballet of Zimbabwe, she also choreographed and produced full-length ballets for the company. Lindsay ran her own ballet school with over 250 students for 10 years in Zimbabwe before immigrating to Australia. She holds a Diploma and Licentiate from the RAD, as well as a master’s degree in Dance Teaching from QUT. Becoming an RAD Examiner in 1999, Lindsay travels extensively both nationally and internationally, examining and teaching.
