The Autumn CPD will provide teachers with an opportunity to enhance and focus their teaching expertise across a variety of inclusion, dance nutrition and dance medicine topics

Aims:

The overarching aims of the Autumn CPD Online sessions are to inspire and upskill teachers with fresh approaches and strategies for:

  • supporting nutritional wellbeing in dance students,
  • understanding the learning needs of children with Autism and ADHD, and
  • safe practice in training turnout in retiré.

Learning Outcomes

The overarching learning outcomes of the Autumn CPD Online sessions are for teachers to return to their studios with:

  • practical tips and preventative practices to support nutritional wellbeing in dance students,
  • tools for responding positively to unexpected behaviours and supporting learners with Autism and ADHD in preparation for RAD examinations, and
  • a greater understanding of turnout range, with exercises to support strong execution.

Session 2 – Beyond Appearance: Supporting nutritional wellbeing

Gain evidence-based information on nutrition, RED-S and eating disorders specific to dance and dancers, including preventative practices and support that teachers’ can offer and feel confident in discussing nutrition in an inclusive way with your students.

Content topics include:

· Use of language

· The difference between RED-S and eating disorders

· The role of dance teachers in prevention and support of treatment

Learning outcomes:

· Gain foundational, evidence-based information on nutrition, RED-S, and eating disorders specific to dance and dancers

· Know the difference between RED-S and ED to spot the early signs and connect to appropriate support

· Gain the confidence to discuss nutrition, RED-S and ED with dancers in an inclusive way

Fumi’s expertise is in Dance Nutrition and Eating Disorders Treatment. Fumi is also an executive committee member of ASPAH, a fellow of Japan Association for Eating

Disorders and a lecturer for dance nutrition at Academy of Music and Performing Arts.
