Youth Mental Health First Aid Online CPD

This Youth Mental Health First Aid course equips adults who teach, care for and support young people, with the skills and confidence needed to recognise and respond to a young person experiencing a mental health problem or crisis.

Aims:

• Provide an overview of mental illnesses, risk factors, prevalence and impact
• Gain an in-depth understanding of how to assist adolescents who may be experiencing a mental health problem or crisis, until appropriate professional help is received, using a practical, evidence-based Action Plan

Learning Outcomes

On completion of the course, participants will receive:

• have increased awareness of the signs and symptoms of mental health problems in adolescents
• be able to recognise and respond to an emerging and worsening mental health problem and understand the interventions and supports available, including how to approach a young person that you are concerned about
• be able to apply mental health first aid in a range of crisis situations
• be eligible to become an accredited Mental Health First Aider, upon completion of an online assessment, following the course

Self-paced online learning followed by an interactive webinar via Microsoft Teams

Includes a presentation, question-and-answer sessions, breakout rooms and opportunities to share your experiences with fellow teachers around the world.
