On Sunday 7 September, dancers from across the region took to the stage in Cairns and Rockhampton for the 2025 Shirley Treacy Awards.
This year marked an exciting milestone, with candidates performing on stage for the first time before a live audience of family, friends, teachers, and esteemed adjudicators. The day began with open classes in the morning, followed by solo performances from the selected regional finalists in the afternoon. The talent, artistry, and dedication on display made for an inspiring celebration of dance.

Adjudicator Daniella Crismani said:
“It is always a joy to see the next generation of dancers step onto the stage for the first time. It truly takes a village to raise a dancer, and I acknowledge the dedication of parents, teachers, and the broader dance community in supporting these young artists.”
