Vale Valerie Bayley

It is with deep sadness that we share news of the passing of Valerie Bayley, a valued RAD Life Member of the Royal Academy of Dance community and a lifelong advocate for classical ballet education.
A Dual Examiner of the RAD and holder of the Advanced Teaching Diploma, Valerie devoted more than forty years to examining, teaching, and coaching students and teachers across Australia and internationally.
Valerie’s impact on early dance education was profound. She developed a vibrant, comprehensive syllabus for young children—opening the door to the wonder of dance and laying strong foundations for future study. Committed to nurturing educators as well as students, she designed a Teacher’s Enrichment Program to support dedicated teachers in deepening their knowledge and practice, empowering them to bring out the very best in their dancers.
Her unwavering commitment to excellence set a standard for all who had the privilege to work with her. Valerie’s contributions to the Academy and to classical ballet will continue to resonate through the countless students and teachers she inspired.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Valerie’s family, friends, former students, and colleagues. She will be remembered with respect and admiration for her services to dance and the RAD community.
