ACT Finalist Announced for 2026 Australian Advanced 1 Bursary

The Royal Academy of Dance Australia is pleased to announce the first finalist in the 2026 Australian Advanced 1 Bursary, following the ACT semi-final held on Sunday 3 May.

Dancers participated in a class led by Tara Chapman and were adjudicated by Matthew Slattery, who praised the high standard of work presented. Congratulations to Camilla Machado (Kim Harvey School of Dance), who has been selected to represent the ACT at the National Final.

Camilla will join finalists from across the country in Melbourne on Sunday 14 June 2026, where one dancer will be awarded the prestigious $5,000 Australian Advanced 1 Bursary.

The Australian Advanced 1 Bursary is one of the nation’s most respected awards for young classical ballet dancers. Presented annually by the Royal Academy of Dance Australia, it recognises students who have achieved Distinction in the RAD Advanced 1 examination and are demonstrating exceptional technique, artistry and potential.

The recipient of the 2026 bursary will receive $5,000 to support further training within the RAD syllabus and associated pre-professional study.

ACT – Sunday 3 May (completed)
NSW, QLD, SA – Sunday 17 May
VIC – Sunday 31 May

National Final:
Sunday 14 June 2026 – Melbourne
