RAD Australia 2027 Conference – Elevating Dance Education

The Royal Academy of Dance Australia is proud to present its sixth international conference, Elevating Dance Education: Creativity, Community and Care, taking place in Sydney, 16-17 January 2027.

This year’s theme reflects RAD’s ongoing commitment to excellence in dance teaching—championing innovation, inclusivity, and wellbeing. Across the two days, delegates will explore practical teaching strategies, discover fresh ideas, and engage in meaningful conversations that support and inspire today’s dance educators.

Bringing together dance teachers, studio owners, academics, and industry professionals from across the globe, the conference offers a unique opportunity to connect, learn, and grow within a vibrant and supportive professional community.

We are especially excited to host the 2027 conference at Bangarra Dance Theatre—one of Australia’s leading performing arts organisations—making this a truly special and inspiring setting for our event.

Call for Contributions

We are seeking contributions for the RAD Australia Conference 2027 programme aligned with the theme Creativity, Community and Care.

Proposals may include lecture presentations, practical or interactive workshops, demonstrations, and panel discussions. Submissions should engage with areas such as innovative teaching practices, wellbeing (physical and psychological), inclusion and safeguarding, digital and social media safety, and self-care and professional growth.

We welcome applications from teachers, practitioners, researchers and postgraduate students working across all dance and performing arts genres, and with a wide range of learners and settings.
