Board of Trustees
As a seasoned Board and Board Committee Chair with extensive experience in financial management and control, I have a track record in driving financial stability and sustainable programmes in not-for-profits operating nationally and globally under diverse operating entity structures with organisations whose activities include the administration of qualifications and certifications.
I am currently Chair of the Greater New York Councils, Scouting America, serving New York City’s youth. The organisation is financed without government funding by a development programme which supports diverse youth offerings and draws on the expertise of both professional staff and volunteers. I am also a Council Member of the University of Liverpool and Chair of the Council’s Audit Committee, and a Trustee of the national charity Classics for All, where I serve on the Finance and Operations Committee. Each of these organisations provides me with the opportunity to serve youth, promote education and utilise my experience in finance, operations and risk management.
My previous roles as President and Board Chair of the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors in the UK and Board member and Audit Committee Chair for the global Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) gave me the opportunity to serve on or chair various committees responsible for qualifications design, examinations and developing target operating models adapted to accommodate national institutes under the global IIA. This experience has given me an appreciation of the challenges which accompany administering global training, examination and qualification programs across a wide range of countries through various local leadership and ownership structures.
I believe these experiences are an appropriate foundation for contributing to the mission of the Royal Academy of Dance as it expands its offerings into Musical Theatre while meeting the challenges of supporting dance globally across its diverse network.
My professional career in financial services continues in several independent non-executive and advisory roles, with past service as a full-time employee at Citigroup and Barclays as well as a partner in Deloitte. Prior to my career in finance, I received a B.A. with distinction in Classics from Rutgers University in the USA, a Ph.D. in Humanity from St. Andrews University, following which I qualified as a Chartered Accountant (FCA) and a Chartered Internal Auditor (CFIIA).
