Teaching Ballet Through Music: Part 2

This interactive webinar series is structured into four themed parts each focusing on various aspects of the relationship of music to ballet class exercises. Building on the strategies from Part 1, the sessions will be constructed around theoretical and practical analysis of the relationship that binds music to movement from a pedagogical, methodological and creative point of view.

Aims

• Cover the fundamentals of time signatures and musical rhythms, and deepen musical skills
• Gain awareness of the relationships between movement, music and voice in creating effective learning experiences in ballet classes

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of the webinar, participants will:

• Acquire more musical expertise in the construction of the exercise
• Understand how to use the voice as a musical resource to convey emotions, artistry and dynamics
• Understand the classification of steps and movements according to dynamic/musical concepts: detached, marked, tied
• Know how to teach the relationship between the dynamic of the movement/step and the musical dynamic/accent
