Australian Semi-Finalists Announced for The Fonteyn 2025

The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Australia is delighted to announce Bridie Grice (Queensland) and Mia Atacador (Victoria) as semi-finalists for the 2025 Margot Fonteyn International Ballet Competition.
The Fonteyn — RAD’s flagship annual competition — is one of the most prestigious ballet competitions in the world, attracting outstanding young dancers trained in the RAD syllabus. This year’s event will take place in São Paulo, Brazil from 11–19 October, marking the first time in its 94-year history that the competition is hosted in Latin America.
Both dancers bring inspiring stories to the stage:
- Mia (pictured left) who is also completing a double degree in Law and Psychology at Monash University, says preparing for the competition has been an exciting opportunity to strengthen her technique and artistry, and to share her passion for dance with others.
- Bridie (pictured right) currently training at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, credits her family and teachers for their unwavering support and describes being selected as a semi-finalist as a “dream come true” and a step toward her future in ballet.
RAD Australia congratulates Bridie and Mia on this significant achievement and looks forward to supporting them as they represent Australia on the world stage in Brazil.
