Australia’s first nationally accredited dancer-specific first aid course, with content related specifically to the dancer, dance teacher or studio owner.
This course aims to provide dancers, dance teachers and studio owners with essential first aid skills and techniques for safeguarding within the studio.
Content includes:
- Resuscitation
- Trauma
- Medical
- Dance specifics
- Minor incidents and environment
- Envenomation and poisoning
- Legal, workplace and community considerations
Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course, participants will receive:
- HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
- HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support
- HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
First Aid certificates are valid for 3 years. CPR should be renewed every 12 months.
CPR refresher courses are available in-person only.
Format
Self-paced online learning followed by a livestream practical assessment via Zoom.
These sessions are livestream only and will not be recorded.
Details of how to join the session will be sent to registered participants approximately 7 days prior.

Required Preparation
Enrolment with DANCEAID is required following registration of the course.
The link to enrol will be sent to registered participants approximately 2 weeks prior to the practical assessment.
Enrolment must be completed within 3 days of receiving the link to allow time for access to the online content to be granted and for resources to be sent via post.
The online learning content must be completed prior to the practical assessment. Please allow approximately 2-3 hours to complete.
Following completion of the practical assessment, resources must be returned as per the instructions and return envelope provided.
Required resources
- Computer/laptop/tablet with internet connection, camera and microphone
- Speakers or headphones
- A safe space for the duration of the session
- Resources sent by the course provider via post
