This 1-hour live webinar will provide dance teachers with evidence-based nutrition information regarding Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S) and Relative Energy Deficiency in Dance (RED-D). Participants will gain an understanding of how it impacts dancers’ health, identifying signs and symptoms, connecting dancers to support and practical skills to prevent RED-S (RED-D)

Aims:

  • Provide evidence-based nutrition information regarding RED-S (RED-D)
  • Gain the knowledge and skills to detect early warning signs of RED-S (RED-D)
  • Understand who and how to connect dancers for further treatment of RED-S (RED-D)
  • Support dance teachers to be a positive role model for their students regarding practices that can prevent RED-S (RED-D)

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion, participants will:

  • understand what RED-S (RED-D) is, and how it impacts dancers’ health and performance,
  • be able to identify signs and symptoms of RED-S (RED-D) in dancers,
  • have a greater understanding and practical skills to prevent RED-S (RED-D), and
  • know who and how to seek support for dancers to recover from RED-S (RED-D).

Fumi’s expertise is in Dance Nutrition and Eating Disorders Treatment. Fumi is also an executive committee member of ASPAH, a fellow of Japan Association for Eating

Disorders and a lecturer for dance nutrition at Academy of Music and Performing Arts.
