This two hour webinar will focus on the Grades 6, 7 and 8 Free Movement Syllabus.
This webinar is one in series of three 2-hour webinars in which participating teachers will gain an understanding of how to teach the Grade 6, 7 and 8 syllabi, focusing on either the female work, or the male and female
work, as specified. Learning activities will focus on creating appropriate development exercises to encourage an accurate interpretation of the criteria used in the mark scheme of the
examination. This two hour webinar will focus on the Classical part of Grades 6, 7 and 8
Aims
The aim of this course is to boost participants’ confidence in teaching of the RAD’s Grades 6, 7 and 8 syllabus through enhancing their knowledge and understanding of the criteria used in the mark scheme of the examinations.
It will:
- Look in depth at the philosophy of Grades 6, 7 and 8
- Offer a chance to improve understanding of specific areas within the syllabus, particularly in regards to technical, musical and performance aspects of the work, as identified by examiners during examinations.
- Reflect on the relevance and interpretation of the assessment criteria in selected exercises and dances
- Provide a platform to discuss, explore and develop strategies to strengthen areas of the work
- Support the creation of development exercises for students by defining the requisite skills and knowledge to do so.
- Attendees at the course will be better able to understand the ‘how’ of teaching the syllabus, increase knowledge of the assessment criteria and gain insight into how the candidates are generally coping in the examinations.
Learning Outcomes
Participants will be able to:
- demonstrate, physically and/or through explanation, an understanding of the technique/s at each level
- discuss the relevance and interpretation of the assessment criteria in selected exercises and dances
- help their learners develop the necessary strength and understanding to achieve the requirements of the assessment criteria in the examination.
Recommended Preparation:
Knowledge of the exercises and dances of the RAD Grades 6, 7 and 8 syllabus.

- A computer/laptop/tablet with internet connection, a camera, microphone and speakers
This is a practical course, please ensure you have space to move and have your camera turned on to actively participate.

Fees
- All fees are inclusive of GST. The Academy reserves the right to amend fees where either tax changes take place during a calendar year or circumstances, such as the introduction of or a devaluation of a currency.
- We reserve the right to charge a surcharge for application forms received after the closing date.
- 3.Payment for activities should be submitted separately from payment for resources.
Closing Dates
Closing dates will be published locally, but the general rule is that closing dates is two weeks prior to the date of the Seminar.
- Applicants are asked to apply early to ensure a place as each Seminar has a limited number of places.
General Terms and Conditions
- All applications and payments will be processed in order of receipt.
- Correspondence will be sent primarily via email, if the email address is incorrect the RAD cannot be held responsible for missed or misdirected email communications.
- Written confirmation of your application will not be sent until the closing date.
- Applications are non-transferable.
- All participants must be aged 16 and over.
- A Tax Invoice/Receipt will be issued and posted after the course together with the Certificate of Attendance and Transcript.
- The Academy reserves the right to alter the advertised programme and/or tutor without prior notice. The information in this and other printed or electronic brochures/notices is correct at the time of print or going online.
- If participant information is not received it is the responsibility of the individual who completed the booking to contact CPD department to arrange for the information to be reissued:
- Any CPD Value that an activity may carry is awarded in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of the RAD CPD Scheme. Any CPD Value accrued cannot be transferred between applicants.
Withdrawals, Transfers and Refunds
Participants who withdraw voluntarily will have their activity fees refunded, as follows:
- Withdrawals before the final closing date will receive a 90% refund.
- Withdrawals between the final closing date and six (6) working days prior to the activity will receive a 50% refund.
- There will be no refund for withdrawals made five (5) or fewer working days prior to the start of the activity.
- Participants who have to withdraw due to injury or illness, either before or after the closing date but before the activity starts, will receive a 90% refund, subject to the receipt of medical evidence.
Participants are strongly advised not to book travel or accommodation until receipt of final participant confirmation that the activity is taking place, usually 5 working days prior to the activity start date. The RAD will not accept liability for travel, accommodation or any other expenses incurred by participants.
Insurance
Participants are advised to consider taking out insurance against withdrawal due to injury/illness, medical treatment, or hospitalisation, or due to personal or family reasons which might prevent them completing the activity. Participants with an existing injury attend at their own risk.
Force Majeure
The RAD shall not be liable to refund fees or any other penalty should activities be cancelled due to any cause whatsoever beyond their control.
