Congratulations to Genée medalist, RAD International Ambassador, and member of the judging panel for this year’s RAD Awards, Shevelle Dynott, who was recently awarded an MBE for services to Classical Dance and to Young People.

Reacting to the news, Shevelle said: “Receiving an MBE is an incredible honour and one I’m still taking in. I hope it recognises not just my journey as a dancer, but the importance of making dance accessible and showing young people what’s possible.

Winning the Genée bronze medal in 2004 was a pivotal moment. It gave me confidence at a time when I was finding my place in the profession, and I still remember the excitement of sharing the stage with so many talented dancers from around the world. Looking back now, it’s a reminder that every milestone builds on the last, and I’m grateful for the journey that continues to unfold.”

OneDance UK have published a fuller list of awardees from the dance sector.
