Costume designs

The Adeline Genée archive includes a large number of costume designs by C. Wilhelm for ballets produced at the Empire Theatre such as Old China (1901), Round the Town Again (1899) and The Pretty Prentice (1916).

Designs for Margot Fonteyn by André Levasseur, Robin Ironside and Motley are held alongside William Chappell’s design for Alicia Markova in Frederick Ashton’s Rendezvous (1933) and two designs by Leslie Hurry for Robert Helpmann’s Hamlet (1942).

The collections also include three designs by Philip Prowse for Rudolf Nureyev’s production of Paquita at the RAD Gala Matinée in 1964 and a variety of College Workshop designs by David Dean.
