Bursaries we offer
RAD bursaries, scholarships and competitions provide opportunities for young people to gain performance experience and to further their study and training.

In addition to the bursaries outlined here, we award scholarships every year at our Summer School events, as well as scholarships linked to regional activities.
General bursary schemes
The Bedells Bursary is one of our longest-established grants. This bursary is awarded annually to young dancers under 17 years of age who have passed the RAD Advanced 1 with Distinction, but have not entered for the Advanced 2 exam.
The Florrie Sinclair Memorial Award was founded in memory of Scottish teacher and examiner Florrie Sinclair. It is available to Scottish students who wish to pursue a career in either dance teaching or performing.
Bursaries for dance teachers
RAD offers a range of bursary and scholarship schemes for individuals keen to pursue a career in dance teaching through the RAD Faculty of Education. Find out more by visiting the Fees and funding page.
Bursaries for applicants to the Margot Fonteyn International Ballet Competition
The Margot Fonteyn International Ballet Competition; The Fonteyn, formerly the Genée International Ballet Competition is the RAD’s annual international ballet competition and retains the heritage of Dame Adeline Genée by preserving the Genée Gold Medal.
The Fonteyn offers limited bursaries, created thanks to a donation from the Dame Margot Fonteyn Scholarship Fund, this scheme is open to any individual from any country wishing to compete in the Margot Fonteyn International Ballet Competition.
