Join us at the Melbourne Spring Syllabus Intensive 2026. 

These school holidays, the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) invites students to take part in a series of ballet classes led by experienced RAD examiners with expert knowledge of the RAD syllabus. 

Classes focus on syllabus coaching and provide an excellent opportunity to prepare for upcoming RAD exams, maintain fitness over the school holidays, and further refine classical ballet technique.  This is a valuable opportunity for students to receive expert tuition and deepen their understanding of the RAD syllabus.

Karen Perring, RAD Examiner

Karen is based on the Gold Coast, Australia and is a member of the Panel of Examiners of the Royal Academy of Dance, London, examining students throughout Australia and internationally. With over 35 years of teaching experience, Karen is a fully registered R.A.D. Teacher and has a Diploma in Dance Teaching and Management and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

She has mentored students completing the Ballet Education Degree at the London R.A.D. Headquarters and Professional Dancer’s Postgraduate Teaching Certificate. She is a trainer and assessor for the Certificate IV in Dance, Musical Theatre, Dance Teaching and Management and Diploma of Professional Dance (Elite Performance).

Other roles with the R.A.D. include her tutoring on the Certificate of Ballet Teaching Studies and tutor for the Silver Swans programme. Karen was privileged to study under teachers such as Kathleen Gorham OBE, Valerie Bayley and Joy Ransley, completing her R.A.D. Teaching Certificate in 1989.

After a career performing in various styles of dance, she was then principal of her own dance schools and then after having her own family, became a freelance teacher both in Australia and London U.K., teaching at The Ballet School, Notting Hill, West London School of Dance and Anna Pavlova’s Ivy House.

Karen has mentored and coached many students to a professional level including some of the most prestigious dance schools and companies in the world. She has been a part of many productions including ballets, musicals and shows in Australia and the U.K. in the capacity of choreographer and stage management.

Karen brings extensive knowledge and a passion for classical ballet and dance to all students and aspiring dance teachers she has the pleasure to teach or examine.
