RAD Australia invites students to take part in the Festival of Dance 2026. This Festival is open to students studying all methods of training and aims to bring together the dance community in a positive and uplifting way.

With over $15,000 in prizes The Festival of Dance gives dancers the opportunity to compete for a range of awards including four coveted and prestigious scholarships and has long been a springboard for the careers of many aspiring and pre-professional dancers in the region. The Festival has become a highlight for the dance community of WA and a fantastic performance opportunity for students.

Adjudicators

Christian Tàtchev

Trained at the National School of Choreography in Sofia, Christian enjoyed a distinguished international career, performing his first leading roles at 16 and becoming a Principal Artist at 21. He has danced with the Sofia National Opera and Ballet, Ballet Arabesque, PACT Ballet, and the South African Ballet Theatre, touring extensively and performing in international galas. Christian continues to appear with Queensland Ballet as a Character Artist and is widely sought after as an adjudicator at major ballet competitions.

After joining Queensland Ballet in 2008, Christian was appointed Ballet Master in 2011, Director of Training in 2013, and Queensland Ballet Academy Director in 2016. His leadership focuses on nurturing elite young artists and shaping the development of the next generation of professional dancers.

Hana Kato

Hana is a dancer born and raised in Perth, Western Australia. In 2018, she moved the the UK to complete her undergraduate studies at London Contemporary Dance School, The Place. Soon after, she toured around the UK and EU with VERVE the postgraduate touring company of Northern School of Contemporary Dance where she graduated and received her Masters Degree. Whilst in the UK, Hana was a finalist in the BBC Young Dancer Competition in the contemporary dance category, performing her own choreographies which was broadcasted nationwide. Since 2022, Hana has been a dancer at Tanz Münster in Germany. Hana has collaborated with and performed pieces by choreographers such as Akram Khan, Sita Ostheimer, Alessandra Seutin, Anouk Van Djik, Ohad Naharin, Marguerite Donlon, Edward Clug, Giuseppe Spota and Judith Sanchez Ruiz. During her time at Tanz Münster, she has also choreographed multiple pieces for the dancers choreographic evenings.
