This is a half-day interactive workshop conducted by Save the Children (Hong Kong) in which participating teachers will gain more and enhance their understanding of Safeguarding Children in the dance teaching environment. The learning activities will focus on the identification, prevention, and safeguarding of children from harm within the dance environment.

Aims

This interactive workshop will provide knowledge on types of harm to children, the basics of Child Safeguarding, contextualising Child Safeguarding to the dance industry, and the day-to-day relevance of Child Safeguarding to the teachers work.

Learning outcomes

  • Be aware of the risks of harm to children,
  • Prevent harm to children within the school,
  • Appropriately respond to child-safety concerns, and
  • Child Safeguarding policies and practices

Recommended preparation:

  • Anonymous survey from Save the Children (Hong Kong) to be completed beforehand
  • Specific Child Safeguarding queries that you would like to raise during the workshop for the dance environment.
  • Have an understanding of your Safeguarding policies
