Anne Anderson (Gare)

A former Principal dancer with the Royal New Zealand Ballet, Anne Anderson toured internationally, performing iconic roles such as Juliet, Odette/Odile, Giselle, and Cinderella. Her career highlights include a sabbatical in New York during the International Dance Festival, which deeply inspired her artistic journey.

Anne has extensive experience as a tutor and choreographer, formerly coordinating the Commercial Dance Course and now working freelance with institutions such as the New Zealand School of Dance, Chilton Ballet Academy, and the NZSD Associate Programme. She regularly adjudicates competitions and has taught at the Alana Haines Awards.

Passionate about sharing her knowledge, Anne also teaches ballet to rhythmic gymnasts and continues to assess and tutor full-time students. Outside of dance, she enjoys working with animals, walking her dog, and supporting the arts with her husband Peter and their daughter Emily—who also works professionally in the performing arts.

Chantelle Scoon

Chantelle began dancing at the age of 5, learning jazz, ballet, tap, musical theatre and lyrical. She has successfully been awarded Solo Performance Diplomas for jazz and ballet with NZAMD, as well as an IDTA vocational diploma in ballet. After receiving several performing arts scholarships, Chantelle attended full time contemporary dance training in Auckland, learning from choreographers for the New Zealand Dance Company, Black Grace and from the New Zealand School of Dance.

Highlights of Chantelle’s career include being choreographer for half time performances for the Wellington Pulse netball team, choreographing and performing in Los Angeles including being a dancer at Disneyland, working on dance and theatrical performances for Te Papa’s Soundings Theatre, and is currently the Marketing Executive for the Royal New Zealand Ballet.

Chantelle also teaches at Fiona Haines Dance Academy in Wellington, training students for their jazz exams and competitions. She has had numerous students successfully apply for the New Zealand School of Dance as fulltime students, and in the scholars and associates programmes, as well as pupils accepted into dance schools around the world.
