Day of Dance takes place in partnership with professional dance organisations and is a wonderful opportunity for your groups to experience training, meet likeminded dancers from other groups on our programme and have the opportunity to share their work with other young people.
This year we are delighted to have partnered with Trinity Laban, The Brit School, IRIE! Dance Theatre, University of East London and Academy Breakin’ Convention.

Each group will get the opportunity to take part in a commercial or street workshop, observe a professional class or rehearsal and share the choreography they have been working on in their Step in Dance sessions. This will be followed by some guided feedback and a Q&A session with students in training.

Each group will get the opportunity to take part in an African or Caribbean fusion workshop, observe the company perform some of their professional work and share some of their own choreography they have been working on in their Step in Dance sessions. This will be followed by some guided feedback and a Q&A session with students in training.

With this venue focusing on the different elements of Hip Hop education, each group will get the opportunity to take part in a street style workshop and observe either a Hip Hop production class or a professional dance class of another style. Participants will also have the chance share some of their own choreography they have been working on in their Step in Dance sessions. This will be followed by some guided feedback and a Q&A session with students in training.

At University of East London Day of Dance, each group will get the opportunity to take part in a street style workshop and observe a battle demonstration by UEL students. Participants will also have the chance share some of their own choreography they have been working on in their Step in Dance sessions. Each group will get the opportunity to take part in a contemporary workshop, observe professional classes and share the choreography they have been working on in their Step in Dance sessions. This will be followed by some guided feedback and a Q&A session with students in training.
We are currently in the process of organising a Musical Theatre themed Day of Dance event for 2026. When confirmed, this will be announced to partner groups on our programme through our usual communication channels.

Information for participating groups
- We anticipate Day of Dance will be very popular event. Spaces for these events are very limited due to the studio capacities at the venues. After you have completed registration, you will be contacted by the team at a later date with more information on whether your space has been confirmed.
- Only schools/youth groups on the Step into Dance programme can register to take part in the Step Around Town events.
- Please note, for the University of East London (UEL) event, maximum dancers that can be registered per school/youth group is 25, due to studio capacities. For all other events, maximum dancers that can registered per school/youth group is 30.
- Step into Dance groups that take part in Day of Dance will be considered to perform at our Step Live Festival on Thursday 2 July 2026 unless you indicate otherwise in the registration form.
- Schools/ youth organisations on our 20, 33, 49.5 and 66 hour packages can participate in Day of Dance at no extra cost. Schools/ Youth Organisations on our 12 hour packages or those not on the Step into Dance programme are still eligible to participate at a small cost depending on the number of participants. Your school/ youth group will be invoiced for this upon confirmation of signing up for the event. Schools/Youth Organisations on our 12 hour package wish to take part in all Step into Dance events in 25-26 the package cost will be £90.
- Schools/ Groups who cancel out of events and/or performances with less than 2 weeks’ notice will incur a £50 penalty fee. If the penalty fee is not paid within the terms and condition of the invoice, Step reserve the right to deduct an equivalent number of hours from the package purchased by the partner group.
