Transforming lives through dance

We believe in the power of dance to transform lives. That’s why, at the Royal Academy of Dance, our mission as a registered charity is to inspire the world to dance.
Championed from our headquarters in London, our global network extends to over 80 countries, reaching diverse communities everywhere to widen access to dance. We’re especially focused on including those who might not otherwise have the chance to take part, sharing the many benefits and wellbeing it brings.
We believe that ‘every body’ – regardless of age, background, or ability – should have the opportunity to experience the joy and lifelong benefits of dance.
RAD teachers inspire generations of students, instilling creativity, confidence, and a love of dance. On average, one RAD teacher will train 3,000 students in their lifetime, making them a powerful force for positive change in communities everywhere.
To this end, we’re raising funds to support our vital work, training dance teachers worldwide, by hosting ‘A Midsummer Night’ on Monday 16 June at the Mandarin Oriental, Hyde Park.
Limited tickets are still available to join us for this unique event that will showcase performances by the UK’s leading dance companies, programmed and commissioned by RAD President Dame Darcey Bussell DBE.
- Birthday Offering by Birmingham Royal Ballet (with kind permission from the Frederick Ashton Foundation)
- Us commissioned by Ballet Boyz
- White Swan pas de deux from Swan Lake by English National Ballet
- Specially commissioned performance: The Law of Love by Kristen McNally
- The Proposal pas de deux from Jane Eyre by Northern Ballet
- Solo from Cinderella by Scottish Ballet

There will also be a live auction on the evening to bid on some truly incredible lots, including the chance to watch The Royal Ballet’s Nutcracker from the wings, a private Argentine tango lesson with Elizabeth Hurley and Pasha Kovalev, and dinner with Dame Darcey Bussell, among other exciting items and opportunities. Pre-bidding via the event website is also possible.

You can also take part in our online auction and raffle, bidding on many items from a stay at a luxurious villa in the South of France, to Royal Ballet tickets and a curtain call from the wings. There’s something for every dance enthusiast.
