SAFEGUARDING & WELLBEING
Our safeguarding and wellbeing events are designed to support members in creating safe, healthy, and positive environments, providing teachers with the tools to recognise and respond to signs of harm. These sessions focus on practical guidance, shared experiences, and expert insights to help you protect vulnerable individuals, build a culture of trust, and strengthen community wellbeing.


Super Communicators: navigating crucial and difficult conversations effectively

Join us for a thought-provoking session with Gordon MacLelland, CEO and founder of Working With Parents in Sport (WWPIS), as we explore what it takes to become a Super Communicator.

Safe Touch in Dance: boundaries, consent, and communication
Wednesday 12 November 2025, 10am – 11am GMT
Join this RAD member event exploring why safe touch matters in dance teaching. Gain practical advice for use in the studio, covering consent, professional boundaries, and creating a safe learning environment.

Food and mindset: practical tips for dance educators
Thursday 26 February 2026, 10am – 11am GMT
Join Registered Nutritionist Helen Ruckledge (MA, MMedSci, RNutr), Founder of FadFree Nutrition. This session supports dance educators in building a healthier relationship with food—for themselves and the students they teach.

Responding to self-harm: guidance for dance educators
Tuesday 9 June 2026, 3pm – 4pm BST
Gain confidence in recognising and responding appropriately to self-harm concerns in dance students. This session offers practical guidance, safeguarding considerations, and support strategies for teachers, with a focus on compassion, confidentiality, and referral pathways.
EXAMINATIONS

Examinations are key milestones in a dancer’s journey, offering structure, achievement, and progression. Our sessions provide practical guidance to help members feel confident in preparing students, navigating the process, and making the experience as rewarding as possible for learners of all levels.

Ballet basics: Posture, weight placement and control

Refine your understanding of foundational ballet technique, focusing on posture, weight placement, and control. This practical session revisits core principles that support safe, expressive movement and effective teaching.
TEACHING PRACTICE
Great teaching is the bridge between syllabus and student success. These sessions share fresh strategies, ideas, and approaches to support teaching members in strengthening their classroom delivery. With practical, actionable insights, members will leave equipped to engage, inspire, and nurture the dancers of today and tomorrow.


The Compassionate Studio: cultivating care in dance teaching
Wednesday 21 January 2026, 10am – 11am GMT
Delve into the science and theory behind compassionate approaches in dance education, including evolutionary perspectives and recent research. This session invites teachers to reflect on their own compassionate voice and introduces practical strategies for fostering a compassionate mindset in students.

Choreography in Ballet: Building Confidence and Creativity
Thursday 23 April 2026, 10am – 11am BST
Discover how classical ballet repertoire can inspire original choreography in this practical online RAD member event. Learn accessible choreographic tools and techniques to build students’ confidence and creativity.

‘Springboard to success’ – insights and celebration of the RAD Scholarship Scheme (1925-1985)

Join us at RAD headquarters as we celebrate 100 years since the launch of the original children’s scholarship scheme, which ran for 60 years from 1925-1985.
EQUALITY, DIVERSITY & INCLUSION
Ballet belongs to everyone. Engaging with Equality, Diversity & Inclusion events is crucial for dance teachers to learn how to effectively foster inclusive classrooms, challenge unconscious bias, and support the diverse needs of their students. Our Equality, Diversity & Inclusion events for dance teachers create space to explore inclusive practices, celebrate diversity, and ensure equality in the studio and beyond. These sessions offer practical tools and discussions to help teachers build welcoming environments where every dancer feels valued, respected, and able to thrive.


Fostering belonging in dance education

Explore the importance of belonging in the dance studio at this RAD member event. Through real examples, we’ll discuss inclusive practices such as use of language, representation in marketing, and challenging stereotypes. Gain practical tools to reflect on your approach and create a welcoming environment where every student feels seen, valued, and included.
