The Fonteyn 2021 final

Join us for the first-ever online final of The Margot Fonteyn International Ballet Competition 2021.

This must-see digital event takes place on Thursday 9 September at 7.30pm BST and will be hosted by RAD President, Dame Darcey Bussell, and RAD Artistic Director, Gerard Charles. The evening will celebrate 15 finalists, selected from 97 applicants from across the globe. As they demonstrate their hard work and achievements in dance, they will also compete for the coveted gold, silver, and bronze medals, in a competition like none we’ve seen before.

Each performer will present a Classical Variation, and a special Commissioned Variation – choreographed by Ashley Page – with whom the candidates had a chance to work during their coaching sessions. The winner of the Dancer’s Own Choreographic Award will also be featured, along with exclusive interviews with alumni and fly-on-the-wall footage of the judges’ deliberation. Find out more about the Fonteyn 2021 faculty and judges.

At the end of the evening, the medal winners will be announced. But you too can be part of the judging panel, with viewers in all time zones able to vote for their favourite dancer in the Audience Choice Award, within 72 hours of the event going online. Your winner will be announced on RAD’s social media channels.

Total duration: approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. Please note that the event is pre-recorded. The event will be available to watch on demand until 19 September 2021.
