We are offering pointe work and Discovering Repertoire CPD activities in Kamnik, Slovenia in January 2027.
16 January: Pointe Work: From Beginners and Beyond, 10am – 5pm
This one-day practical workshop is designed to increase a ballet teacher’s confidence and knowledge of teaching pointe work to students at different stages of training. The workshop charts preparation and training progressions which underpin the requisites of pointe work. Participants will be introduced to, and explore through discussion, the vocabulary of pointe work from Intermediate Foundation through to more advanced levels of training. Examples of training exercises which prepare students for the progressive demands of pointe work, as well as strategies for implementing training exercises, will be explored.
17 January: Discovering Repertoire Levels 2 and 3 (Female): Focus on Variations, 10am – 5pm
This one-day practical course will provide ballet teachers with a good understanding and knowledge of all the Female development exercises and variations from Discovering Repertoire Levels 2 and 3. Variation 1 from Coppélia (Act ll; Swanilda, Spanish) and Variation 2 from Giselle (Act l from the Peasant Pas de Deux) from Level 2 and Variation 1 from The Sleeping Beauty (Act lll, Princess Florine) and Variation 2 from Paquita (Act l, 1st Variation from the Pas de Trois) from Level 3 will be covered.
The storylines, with some historical information about the different ballets, and specifically these Variations, will be discussed. Participants will gain insights into the concepts which underpin the structure, content and teaching of Discovering Repertoire which provides flexibility in how each of the units is delivered (e.g. as stand-alone units or in conjunction with each other). The course will also provide practical, technical, artistic and musical insights into the teaching of these development exercises and variations in Discovering Repertoire Levels 2 and 3.
