Contact:
A practical introductory course focusing on the RAD Grade 4 syllabus with emphasis on learning set exercises and, where appropriate, discussing relevant teaching points, strategies and methodology. Throughout the course, the focus will be on clarifying details of the syllabus, with references made to the examination marking criteria.
Aims
- To learn the set exercises in the RAD Grade 4 syllabus through explanation and physical participation
- To improve participants’ understanding of syllabus expectations
- To ensure accuracy of the settings
- To reflect on appropriate teaching methodology relating to the set exercises, and
- To improve understanding of the examination, class award and solo performance award mark schemes
Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course, you will:
- Have an understanding and knowledge of the set exercises of the RAD Grade 4 syllabus
- Have an understanding of the technical, musical and artistic requirements for Grade 4
- Be able to recall settings with accuracy
- Be able to reflect on the most effective teaching methodologies when teaching the set work, and
- Have increased understanding of the criteria and mark schemes for examinations, class awards and solo performance awards
Course Tutor
Sarah Haslock is a graduate of the College of the Royal Academy Dance and serves as an RAD Examiner and CPD Tutor. Sarah is the former director of the Royal Dance Academy in Atlanta, GA and also holds certifications in Rambert Contemporary Grades, Progressing Ballet Technique, and is a Silver Swans Tutor.
